John Hartwig started Leadership Training Camp in 2011. Soon after reading the inspirational book Halftime, which encourages successful business people to focus on significance in the second half of their careers, John had breakfast with his friend, Mike Matheny, (longtime MLB catcher) who was with the St. Louis Cardinals at the time. John told Mike about his idea of sharing a leadership curriculum with professional athletes and asked Mike if he thought there was value here and if this could be a business. Mike liked the idea so much, he asked John if he could be his partner. This first of its kind business was off and running!

Since 2011, many doors have opened for Leadership Training Camp and John is sure that even better things lie ahead. “I’m a builder; it is a thrill to coach processes that yield fantastic results. Everything we’ve built is in preparation to serve many.  Our dream is to coach thousands in professional sports each season, offering wisdom that is easily consumable. Imagine a country full of high character leaders that the youngest generation will look up to and emulate.”

John's focus is on his two passions: his family and LTC. When he isn’t coaching, you’ll find him with his wife, two adult children, their spouses, and one grandchild. “If I’m not with my family, I want to coach and encourage others. We are on a mission to make a difference in the lives of those we serve.”
