Mark Murphy, former President and CEO of the Green Bay Packers, has said the program challenges their leaders to reach their next level and is now in its tenth year with the organization. Doug Armstrong, General Manager of the St. Louis Blues, noted that his organization is more aligned after working with LTC and that better communication creates opportunities that help them win. John Mozeliak of the St. Louis Cardinals used our program as the foundation for a mentoring initiative called “Cardinal Core” focused on player development on and off the field. • Leadership Training Camp was founded in 2011 and is led by President John Hartwig. John built LTC after being inspired by the book Halftime, which encourages successful businesspeople to pursue significance in the second half of their careers. He partnered early on with longtime Major League Baseball catcher and manager Mike Matheny, who affirmed the vision and helped launch the business. Today, our team is made up of passionate, trustworthy, and experienced facilitators who understand the pro sports industry from the inside. You can meet our full team here.

  • Getting started is simple and involves three steps. First, we schedule a no-cost discovery conversation to learn where are you succeeding? What challenges are you facing? What leadership outcomes do you desire? Second, we build a customized plan that matches your goals, your team structure, and your budget. Third, once the plan is finalized, we meet your participants in person and over Zoom to set expectations, then begin the facilitated small-group sessions where real growth happens. Schedule the discovery conversation here.

  • Three things set Leadership Training Camp apart. First, we work exclusively with professional sports organizations, which means our facilitators understand the culture, pressures, travel schedules, and competitive dynamics of the industry in a way generic corporate trainers do not. Second, our material is built on timeless, proven leadership principles (wisdom that has stood the test of time) repackaged in practical, modern language that resonates with today’s athletes and executives. Third, our format is small-group conversational rather than lecture-based, which creates the trust and honesty needed for real behavior change. Participants do not just learn about leadership; they practice it with their peers.

  • Our curriculum covers the core skills that separate good leaders from great ones in high-performance environments. Topics include self-awareness, communication, trust-building, accountability, setting goals, managing up, giving and receiving feedback, handling conflict, building team culture, and emotional intelligence. Every engagement is customized, so the specific topics and emphasis are shaped around what your organization needs most.

  • Our 90-minute sessions are delivered in small-group cohort format, typically 6 to 12 participants per group, to create the psychological safety needed for honest conversation and real growth. Sessions can be held in person, over Zoom, or in a hybrid format depending on your team’s schedule and location. A typical engagement includes multiple sessions spaced over several weeks or months so that participants have time to practice new habits between meetings. We also offer one-on-one coaching calls with each participant to help them get to their next level.

  • 94% of our 2,500+ participants report that they have become better leaders as a result of our initiatives. Clients consistently report improved communication, stronger alignment across departments, healthier team culture, better accountability, and more productive working relationships.

  • Both. We work with entire organizations that want to build a consistent leadership culture from the top down, with specific departments or cohorts (such as a group of coaches, scouts, or business staff), and with individual executives who want one-on-one coaching sessions. The right structure is decided together during the intro meeting and customized plan phase.

  • Leadership Training Camp is based in the United States and our team travels to client sites across the country as well as delivering programs remotely over Zoom. Because our clients are spread across the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, and NASCAR, we are accustomed to working around demanding travel schedules and season calendars.
